The Hiding Place-----Corrie ten Boom

This is a book from the Christian Library!  I just finished reading the book!  I think it is such a marvellous book!!

It is about Corrie ten boom and her family.  It is set in WWII (1946)at Holland.  The house that  the ten Boom family stay at is called the Beje (pronounce BAY-YAY) in the centre of Haarlem.  It is now a museum showing the Ten Boom family's memorabilia.

I burst into tears for several times when I read the book.  It is so touching as the ten Boom family is so kind and God-fear.  They operate a watchshop and their house, the Beje, is the hiding place for helping many Jews.  When you read the book, you will find Jesus!  He is so powerful.  If Corrie does not believe in Him wholeheartedly, how can she overcome so many difficulties and challenges.

Corrie's father , Casper ten Boom, is also a man of integrity.  He read the Bible every morning with his family and bring up his sons and daughters to be devoted christians.  At the end, he is arrested and dies in a prison at Scheveningen with the age of eighty-four.  He said he would open his door to anyone in need.

I am impressed by a story in this book.  When two German soldiers try to look for men everywhere, they come to the Beje.  So Peter and Rob hide in a small place under the table.   When the soldiers ask Cocky where her brothers are, she said, "they're under the table." The soldiers fling away the table cloth and find nothing there.  They think she is just kidding!!  "God honours truth-telling with perfect protection".

Corrie ten Boom is brave and persevering.  She understands that she might be arrested if she keeps helping the Jews, she stills keeps helping them.  When she is arrested, she is asked by a Nazi officer, she said, "In the Bible, I learn that God values us not for our strength or our brains, but simply because He has made us."  She suffers so much in the prison and she needs to travel to different areas with her sister Betsie.  They count on each other in the prison and are able to read the Bible God has given them.  Later, Betsie dies and Corrie wait until one day she can be released and she will accomplish Betsie's visions given by God like seeing a home in Holland where those who has been hurt can learn to live again unafraid.  Corrie also learns to forgive when she thinks of how Jesus died for her on the cross.

I highly recommend this book to any book lovers.  Though it takes some time to finish the book, it is worhwhile to do so as it is such a good and meaningful book that I have ever read in my life!!
